Directors Andrew Simmons & Aidan O’Shannessy formed Nine in Six Builders after working alongside each other for many years as separate entities. Both Andrew and Aidan come from a hands-on high quality carpentry background. They have over 40 years in the industry.
The name Nine in Six Builders comes from our experience transforming nine homes in six weeks as part of a TV reality series. This pressure-cooker environment forced us to re-think the building process.
Since this time, we have applied our new methods to extensions and renovations for residential and commercial clients. We continue to be the Principal Contractor behind the TV series ‘The Block’. Through these experiences we have developed a wealth of knowledge, particularly in extending, renovating and redeveloping a large range of homes and buildings. Many of these builds have been extremely complex, included strict heritage requirements and been delivered on timeframes that had previously been thought impossible.
Our projects are managed by our 2 directors, who are experienced project managers. More importantly, our model relies on our in-house team of experienced carpenters, with our senior staff taking a lead in the day to day co-ordination of all site activities whilst remaining on the tools. These experienced site-based resources are supported by an enthusiastic contract administration team. Everyone has their place in the build process, allowing us to deliver only the highest quality product.

Aidan O'Shannessy
Director
Aidan is a carpenter by trade, honing his skills in bespoke residential and commercial projects for more than 20 years. Aidan became a registered builder in 2008 and has built a network of top-tier consultants and trades. He has developed a reputation for working collaboratively and brings this approach to every project, big or small. A keen interest in developing best practice construction detailing has led to developing the very best systems of work possible.

Andrew is a craftsman carpenter who has been building quality projects across greater Melbourne for over 20 years. With an unsurpassable ability to schedule projects, Andrew ensures that Nine in Six’s projects come in on time without compromising quality. Working closely with our team of consultants Andrew has developed seamless construction programming, achieving the best possible results for our clients.
Supervisor Team
We are so very lucky to have a team of dedicated supervisors who are crucial to our ability to deliver quality projects. Our supervisors are trade qualified craftsman, all with at least 20 years in the game. They care about our projects and the staff they look after.
Tradesman, Apprentices and Labourers
We have an amazing team of trades people, from senior leading hands to recently qualified and apprentices. Many of our valued team have been with us since we first started Nine in Six and we hope to keep building on the amazing team.
